Our mission is to encourage and support initiatives that enhance the mental and physical well being of children whose lives are affected by poverty, homelessness or domestic violence.

Grant History

TARA’S STARFISH FOUNDATION INC. HAS AWARDED THE FOLLOWING GRANTS TO DATE IN FULFILLMENT OF OUR MISSION:

2020

 

SOUTH PARK INN HOMELESS SHELTER HARTFORD CT

  • With the onset of COVID-19, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of families assigned to South Park Inn Homeless Shelter. But this summer, there were no field trips or volunteers providing activities for the 15 children at the shelter. With funding from Tara’s Starfish Foundation, the staff were able to create a summer of outdoor fun and sunshine for the children while keeping them safe and secure. 

 

2019

 

GIRL SCOUT TROOP 6000 FOR GIRLS LIVING IN NYC HOMELESS SHELTER SYSTEM:

  • 9 Girl Scouts and 2 chaperones went to Great Adventure in NJ for Halloween.

  • 30 Girl Scouts went behind the scenes of the Samantha Bee Show

The girls had a tour of the studios, pitched jokes with the writers, and were put in front of the green screen where they came up with their own ideas. They all went home with Sam Bee Girl Scout badges that say Bee Prepared.

 

PINE RIDGE INDIAN RESERVATION IN SOUTH DAKOTA

The poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere the reservation is the size of Delaware and Rhode Island combined and home to 40,000 Lakota Sioux. 

  • Provided funding to the Children’s Emergency Foster Home for children aged infants to 12 years old who are removed from violent home situations. 

 

SAFE HAVEN EMERGENCY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER WATERBURY CT

  • Purchased a new play scape for the kids at the shelter. 

 

2018

 

SAFE PASSAGE NORTHAMPTON MA

  • Funding for supplies for the new art therapy and children’s activity rooms.

 

    SAFE HAVEN OF GREATER WATERBURY (CT)

  • ​Set up a fund to meet the needs of children living in the emergency shelter and for a birthday party project.
